Share
Customer & Initial Situation
At the Dillinger Hütte steelworks, a repair crane was technically modernized. Hert Kran-Service GmbH, a company of the HPS-Group, replaced the outdated hoist under demanding conditions at a height of 35 meters. The aim was to sustainably improve operational safety and maintenance friendliness. The existing hoist was heavily soiled, technically outdated, and prone to faults. The measure was aimed at increasing plant availability and aligning with current safety and technical standards.
Project Requirements
To ensure safe implementation at a height of 35 meters, the following measures were defined:
- Use of mobile elevating work platforms and precise crane positioning
- Safety concept with PPE for fall protection
- Close coordination with local partners for logistics and access
Process in Three Phases
1. Preparation
- Technical analysis of the existing system
- Installation concept and safety planning
2. Dismantling of the old hoist
- Removal under difficult conditions using existing infrastructure
3. Installation of the new system
- Installation of a Demag hoist with precise control technology
- Completion with functional testing and commissioning
Result
- Increased operational safety and improved controllability
- Reduced maintenance effort thanks to modern components
- Compliance with current technical requirements
Dillinger Hütte assessed the project as successful. Particular emphasis was placed on adherence to deadlines, planning reliability, and implementation expertise.
